Another little snippet from last night’s #jamnight performance - this was actually a solo for an insanely high-pitched (F!!!) version of Long Train Running. This bass solo’s probably the most coherent I’ve ever done - and I owe it all to really digging into @scottsbasslessons. I’ve been playing 30 years and only after some serious theory shedding so I have more confidence when someone says “take a solo”. . . . . —————————— #bass #bassguitar #solo #musician #musicianlife #music

Holiday vibes with Bach on a canal boy in Worcester, parked under a willow tree. Beautiful day. Short clip of practice. Using @rikkersguitars Bodyline, @roland_uk Bass Cube RX on battery power. Just the most glorious way to spend time! Music is a lifelong giver, a source of tranquility, internal and external harmony. Play something. You won’t regret it. . . . . #musician #musicianslife #summer #canalboat #bass #bassguitar #bassguitarist

Here's a cover of Donna Lee's head for you on a sunny Sunday. Clicked at 110bpm, with a few inconsistencies, but I'm on a mission to get stuff out there, even if it is rough around the edges. Ok, time to start posting some stuff I can do now, before I can’t do it later. This is just a warmup exercise I use before I start working on other stuff - it’s not musical, it’s physical. This is what spending several years working on 3-finger right hand plucking can do! I’m hoping to post more stuff, without spending an age on polishing it. So let me know what you think: I’m no Davie54 or whatever, but I can do this! . . . #bassist #bassguitar #bass #musician #musiciansofinstagram #music #practice #woodshed #shedding #technique
